edges onthe seat. Also, donot
place heavy objects onthe seat that
will leave permanent impressions in
the seat. Such objects candamage
the seat oroccupant classification
sensors (weightsensors) .This can
affect theoperation ofthe airbag
system andresult inserious perso-
nal injury.
. Do not use water oracidic cleaners
(hot steam cleaners) onthe seat.
This candamage theseat oroccu-
pant classification sensors.Thiscan
also affect theoperation ofthe air
bag system andresult inserious
personal injury.
. Immediately afterinflation, several
front airbag system components
will behot. Donot touch them; you
may severely burnyourself.
. Nounauthorized changesshouldbe
made toany components orwiring
of the supplemental airbag system.
This isto prevent accidental infla-
tion ofthe supplemental airbag or
damage tothe supplemental airbag
system. .
Do not make unauthorized changes
to your vehicle's electrical system,
suspension systemorfront end
structure. Thiscould affect proper
operation ofthe front airbag sys-
tem.
. Tampering withthefront airbag
system mayresult inserious perso-
nal injury. Tampering includes
changes tothe steering wheeland
the instrument panelassembly by
placing material overthesteering
wheel padand above theinstrument
panel orby installing additional trim
material aroundtheairbag system.
. Removing ormodifying thefront
passenger seatmayaffect thefunc-
tion ofthe airbag system andresult
in serious personal injury.
. Modifying ortampering withthe
front passenger seatmayresult in
serious personal injury.Forexam-
ple, donot change thefront seats by
placing material onthe seat cushion
or by installing additional trimma-
terial, suchasseat covers, onthe
seat thatisnot specifically designed
to assure properairbag operation.
Additionally, donot stow anyob- jects
under thefront passenger seat
or the seat cushion andseatback.
Such objects mayinterfere withthe
proper operation ofthe occupant
classification sensors.
. Nounauthorized changesshouldbe
made toany components orwiring
of the seat beltsystem. Thismay
affect thefront airbag system.
T ampering withtheseat beltsystem
may result inserious personal in-
jury.
. Work onand around thefront air
bag system shouldbedone bya
NISSAN dealer.Installation ofelec-
trical equipment shouldalsobe
done byaNISSAN dealer.The
Supplemental RestraintSystem
(SRS) wiring harnesses* shouldnot
be modified ordisconnected. Un-
authorized electricaltestequipment
and probing devicesshouldnotbe
used onthe airbag system.
. Acracked windshield shouldbe
replaced immediately byaqualified
repair facility. Acracked windshield
could affect thefunction ofthe
supplemental airbag system.

inflate quickly inorder tohelp protect the
occupants. Becauseofthis, theforce ofthe
side airbags andcurtain airbags inflating can
increase therisk ofinjury ifthe occupant istoo
close to,orisagainst, theseairbag modules
during inflation. Theside airbags andcurtain air
bags willdeflate quickly afterthecollision is
over.
The side airbags andcurtain airbags
operate onlywhen theignition switchisin
the ONposition.
After turning theignition switchtothe ON
position, thesupplemental airbag warning
light illuminates. Thesupplemental airbag
warning lightwillturn offafter about 7
seconds ifthe systems areoperational.
WARNING
. Do not place anyobjects nearthe
seatback ofthe front seats. Also,do
not place anyobjects (anumbrella,
bag, etc.)between thefront door
finisher andthefront seat.Such
objects maybecome dangerous
projectiles andcause injuryifaside
air bag inflates. .
Right afterinflation, severalsideair
bag andcurtain airbag system
components willbehot. Donot
touch them; youmay severely burn
yourself.
. Nounauthorized changesshouldbe
made toany components orwiring
of the side airbag andcurtain air
bag systems. Thisisto prevent
damage toor accidental inflation
of the side airbag andcurtain air
bag systems.
. Do not make unauthorized changes
to your vehicle's electrical system,
suspension systemorside panel.
This could affect proper operation
of the side airbag andcurtain air
bag systems.
. Tampering withtheside airbag
system mayresult inserious perso-
nal injury. Forexample, donot
change thefront seats byplacing
material neartheseatbacks orby
installing additional trimmaterial,
such asseat covers, around theside
air bag.
. Work around andonthe side airbag
and curtain airbag systems should
be done byaNISSAN dealer.In- stallation
ofelectrical equipment
should alsobedone byaNISSAN
dealer. TheSupplemental Restraint
System (SRS)wiring harnesses*
should notbemodified ordiscon-
nected. Unauthorized electricaltest
equipment andprobing devices
should notbeused onthe side air
bag orcurtain airbag systems.
*The SRSwiring harness connectors are
yellow andorange foreasy identification.
When selling yourvehicle, werequest thatyou
inform thebuyer about theside airbag and
curtain airbag systems andguide thebuyer to
the appropriate sectionsinthis Owner's Manual.
